In this test project, we are continuously optimizing stability, power consumption, and execution success rates in complex scenarios. Therefore, Xiaomi miclaw is currently only open to tech and AI enthusiasts for small-scale closed beta testing. Additionally, fluctuations in performance or intermittent errors may occur during high-complexity tasks. Therefore, we do not recommend general users to install it on their daily driver.

We would advise tech and AI enthusiasts to complete a full backup of all their data and only conduct testing within a controlled environment. Users granted closed beta test access will receive a dedicated OS update over-the-air. This is required to gain access to Xiaomi miclaw.

This global closed beta test supports the following models only and a global Xiaomi account is needed:

02: How can I experience Xiaomi miclaw?

Users can currently only access Xiaomi miclaw as part of a global closed beta test. To participate in this, please complete the application form available on the Xiaomi Community website. Once your application has been approved, a dedicated OTA ROM update will be pushed to your device. Simply upgrade your smartphone's operating system to the OS version that has the Xiaomi miclaw app pre-installed.

No complex manual setup is required. When launching Xiaomi miclaw for the first time, the user has the option to customize the AI's name, personality style, and how it will address the user through a simple natural language dialogue.

03: Will there be regular updates? Can I delete the app and exit the beta test?

Xiaomi is committed to continuously optimizing Xiaomi miclaw with iterative updates throughout the closed beta test to ensure optimal experience.

Users can choose to uninstall the Xiaomi miclaw app at any time. To revert to the official OS version, please submit an application via the following link: Xiaomi miclaw global closed beta test exit request.

After your request has been approved, your phone will receive this OS version with the next scheduled OTA update.

05: What model does Xiaomi miclaw currently use? Are there any token limits or fees?

The current version of Xiaomi miclaw is powered by Xiaomi's proprietary foundation model, Xiaomi MiMo by default.

Throughout the global closed beta test, Xiaomi miclaw is complimentary to use with no token limits.

06: What is the difference between Xiaomi miclaw and OpenClaw?

Global AI agents are structured in a similar way, and are designed for autonomous task handling.

In comparison to OpenClaw, Xiaomi miclaw is optimized for rapid on-device use, particularly mobile devices. It offers seamless integration with the Xiaomi AIoT ecosystem and native system apps.

Our goal is to empower non-technical users to quickly use and experience the powerful capabilities of mobile AI agents without a steep learning curve.

07: Is Xiaomi miclaw safe to use? Can I trust Xiaomi miclaw with my personal data and virtual assets?

Xiaomi miclaw is only activated when a user initiates a dialogue or triggers a task. There are no background processes that will result in scheduled or unauthorized data uploads.

Access to specific data (e.g., SMS messages, calendars, contacts and files) is strictly limited to within clearly defined tool interfaces. Each data category follows the Android runtime permission model, and users can revoke permissions at any time via system settings.

All tool calls undergo a rigorous audit process with three distinct levels of control:

• ALWAYS_ALLOW: For low-sensitivity actions (e.g., checking weather or time), respond directly.

• ASK_FIRST_TIME: For medium-sensitivity actions (e.g., accessing location or reading schedules), require one-time user confirmation.

• ASK_EVERY_TIME: For high-sensitivity actions (e.g., sending messages or creating events), require manual confirmation for every execution with a 60-second timeout that defaults to a "Deny" for maximum security.

Code within Xiaomi miclaw does not contain registered tools for payments, money transfers, or purchasing. Transactions cannot be completed without biometric verification or password entry.

08: Does Xiaomi miclaw use personal data for model training?

No, Xiaomi adheres to the principle of data minimization throughout the entire lifecycle of its AI products, and maintains a strict policy of not using user data for training.

Current chat messages are only sent to the cloud during inference, and all data is encrypted as it is transmitted. Once processed, no data is retained in the cloud, ensuring complete data security and privacy.

Users maintain absolute control over their memory data. This includes granular capabilities such as selective synchronization, scheduled cleanups, and permanent deletion, ensuring that data sovereignty remains entirely in the user's hands.

10: Will Xiaomi miclaw affect system stability, battery life, and heat dissipation on my device?

This ROM has undergone rigorous stability testing, matching the standards of Xiaomi HyperOS beta releases.

AI inference is primarily processed in the cloud. Therefore, hardware stress stems from network communication rather than local computation. It is possible there may be a moderate impact on battery life and thermal performance during active use.

As Xiaomi miclaw is currently a test product, we do not recommend installing it on your daily driver. It is also not suggested for users with high requirements for battery longevity or heat control.

We are committed to timely iterations to continuously improve the system's core performance and overall user experience.

11: Why are certain payment and third-party services not working after downloading Xiaomi miclaw?

Currently, Xiaomi miclaw is still a test product, and has not yet been officially launched.

We would not recommend beta test participants to download it on their daily driver or use it for highly sensitive tasks such as payments during the test period.

12: Can Xiaomi miclaw function in offline or weak network environments?

The on-device models have not yet met the high performance requirements needed for complex reasoning. Therefore, core capabilities, including model inference, automatic speech recognition, and text-to-speech, rely on cloud-based services. These features will not function without a stable internet connection.

In weak network environments, response times may increase, though the system will prioritize task completion whenever possible.

Pre-configured tasks that do not rely on network requests will continue to run as normal. These include locally stored event reminders, alarms, and system-level schedules that were set prior to the network interruption.

13: Why is Xiaomi miclaw only available on Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra? Will it be introduced to more phones in the future? Will an official version be released?

Xiaomi miclaw runs as a system-level application with core system capabilities, and requires a specialized ROM to provide the necessary system-level signatures and service support. All permissions are strictly limited to simply enable the AI agent's core functionalities and will not exceed the scope necessary for such features. Currently, these dedicated ROMs are exclusively optimized for Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

The global version is currently in its closed beta phase. Xiaomi's primary focus is on refining the core experience before considering a wider rollout.
